Luxurious Hotel Expansion Breathes New Life Into

Irrespective of its French-sounding name, its location 5 miles from France as the crow flies, its shared ski region with La Rosière, a French resort and the fact that it’s referred to amongst Italian skiers as "Little Siberia" because of its regular snowstorms, La Thuile is quintessentially an Italian resort.

It was bathed temporarily in ski glamour in the 1980s when the glitterati of Italy flocked to what was the fabulously fashionable Hotel Planibel at the base of the ski pistes. As fashions go, it was definitely short lived: the VIPs promptly transferred to the much less Siberian Courmayeur, replaced by budget travellers and families for whom the faded Planibel complex and functional base village were not glamorous but are very affordable and convenient.

These days, CEO MPS Puri of Nira Hotels & Resorts, is determined to regain that former glory. With well over 40 years' experience of the hotel and hospitality industry and a trio of boutique, five star properties on his record, he announced La Thuile's primary five star resort, Nira Montana, this past year in December.

The unassuming three-storey wooden and stone property was built in traditional Aosta Valley style and mixes easily with the homes that surround it. Step inside, on the other hand, the extravagant mix of natural-look materials, low illumination and modern furniture shouts lavishness. The walls are made with reclaimed solid timber from local farm houses, floors are also wooden but created from random pieces of wood which follow individual trees' natural shapes. Chrome and leather armchairs recline beneath low hanging hand-crafted Foscarini lamps fashioned from copper and slender silver birch trunks separate a small trattoria, including a wood burning pizza oven, from the sleek, double-height dining area.

The hotel features the 5 star Nira spa, which provides many different treatments for organic and stress-free living, which are of course particularly effective with the hotel’s nearness to the magnificent Mount Blanc and Aosta Valley. The hotel also allows for booking an exclusive spa session for an entire day which is sure to leave the attendees with a very luxurious experience. The spa also comprises of a techno gym, indoor pool area, sauna, steam bath, steam room and a number of serene therapy rooms, which needless to say are streaks in front of any nearby competition.

An excellent addition to Bhanu Choudhrie’s C&C Alpha Group and its hospitality arm, the hotel and resort (amid Italy’s highest mountain peak Rutor Falls, Mont Blanc, Gran Paradiso Natural and Pre Saint Didier baths as well as other natural wonders) provides a stunning view for all lovers of luxury.
